Morris Mount Roberts Fellowship Recipient Robert Bell will present his research “The 206 African American Union Soldiers from Oldham County” followed by dinner and a walk to the Harrods Creek Slave Cemetery. Bell’s research details the names, regiment and company of these soldiers who participated as Union soldiers in the Civil War. Many of the soldiers earned their freedom from enslavement as they mustered in the Union army. The lecture and dinner will be followed by a walk to a designated slave cemetery with over 20 unmarked graves of enslaved people from Oldham County. Barnyard Fun! Hearth Cooking with Amy Leibert
Join us September 11 as we say goodbye to the Smithsonian exhibit “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America”. Historic re-enactor Amy Liebert will be cooking a meal inspired by the exhibit in the Dalhgren Pioneer Barn’s hearth kitchen. Activities are from 10am to 12pm.

Join us on Saturday, September 4 from 10am to Noon and explore the Colonial Garden with Jan. She’ll be working on transplanting herbs and thinning strawberry plants and guests can take starts home. Learn about planting fall/winter crops, and how to close a garden down for the season.
