Mount Parlor Exhibit Dedication
Saturday, September 25, 2021 – 11am.
In Spring 2021, the Oldham County History Center designated a room in the J. Chilton Barnett Library & Archives as the Mount Parlor to educate visitors about the activities of the Mount family and enslaved people that lived in the household. Local interior designer Breck Morgan has carefully selected period furniture and artifacts from the museum collection, that help interpret the culture of families that lived in Oldham County during the Antebellum era. On September 25 the Mount Parlor will be dedicated and opened as a new exhibit at the Oldham County History Center. There is regular admission charge for visitors, $8 per person, $6 for students, veterans and seniors, under 4 is free.
Candlelight Cemetery Walk – Valley of Rest Cemetery
Thursday, October 28, 2021. 7pm.
Make plants to take a candlelight cemetery walk of the Valley of Rest Cemetery in LaGrange was created in the mid-19th Century when LaGrange was an important railroad town that included the Kentucky Masonic College attracting both boys and girls from not only Kentucky but surrounding states. Visitors will be introduced to some famous and infamous people from Oldham County’s past.
This is a candlelight tour and participants will be led by a tour guide to designated sites. The activities will follow COVID Guidelines meaning that people should be vaccinated to participate and wear masks. The admission is $10 per person, paid in advance.
