V-MAIL DATED 6-3-44
Dear C.K. –
How’s the big bruiser doing this pretty spring day. (It’s Sat. to.) Boy I’d love to be home today. I just drew 3 months back flying pay today so guess I’ll turn on tonight & forget the dam army & war for a few hrs. I drew $140 bucks today and I also made S/Sgt. today. Guess I’ll get quite a payday next month. I make $173 a month now. Not bad huh? I’m sorry to hear you didn’t do so well on the races. Did you lose much? I’ve just got in seven eight missions now & am entitled to the Air metal. I’d still rather be a civilian though. This army really makes a guy get homesick at times. My new girl is some Earl’s daughter. (Now can you imagine that?) I wish you could be here with me. Boy would we have fun together. Have you heard anymore about your being drafted? I sure hope they don’t get you. One guy from the Bennett family is enough. (or is it?) Yep! guess it is. How’s Mary, Judy & Baby brother doing now? Tell them al hello for me. Is Judy still staying with mother? I’ll bet she and baby brother are so grown up now I wouldn’t know them. Have you seen Gina & Ernest lately. Well I’ll close for now. Write soon & often.
your Little Brudder
