Dear mom –
Here it is another Friday afternoon and I’m still doing fine. Hope you are doing OK!
I recd. a few letters from Lee last night and she’s doing swell. She should be getting her vacation soon. I think it’s sometime in July. I’d give anything to be in the States then so I could be with her. Remember Jean Siegel. She is going to visit Charlie Ezersky (he’s somewhere in Fla. now) and Lee says she things Jeanie will get married while she’s there. In Lee’s letter’s [sic] so far she hasn’t said anything about getting the picture but all the letters were old ones. I guess I’ll catch up on my mail one of these days real soon. When you write me send them air mail if you can because that comes faster and they have more news than a darn old V mail. Don’t they?
Have you been receiving the allotment checks and bond every 3 months? In your letters so far you haven’t said anything about them. I hope they’ve been getting there allright. If they don’t all you have to do is write me and I’ll straighten things up.
Oh yes – the boat I came over on was the Queen Elizabeth.
I got a letter and a picture from Brownie yesterday. I guess maybe I’ll write her again some of these times.
Oh yes – will you send me Benton Jeffries address. I can locate him if he’s around here anywhere. I’d love to see him sometime. So far I haven’t run into anyone from home.
Does sister still have the same old chev. I guess it’s getting quite a few miles on it by now isn’t it. I really ran them up when I was home on furlough didn’t I? Boy – those were the days.
How’s Aunt Gevo doing these day? Guess she’s still busy as ever isn’t she?
Well I’m out of news so will close for now. Tell Pop & Sis hello & write soon.
Your Loving Son,
Earl D.
