Dearest Folks –
How’s my super swell mom- pop & big sister tonight. I’m sitting here in the aero club again dreaming of home & what I would do if I was there tonight.
I didn’t receive any mail tonight so guess I’ll get some tomorrow. It seems as if they all come at once over here & then it’s when you least expect them.
CENSORED and CENSORED had a nice time at both places. I’ll send sister some souvenirs from CENSORED when I get paid if she’d like to have some. Sis – what would you suggest. I get paid the 30th so you better make up your mind real quick.
I still have the same pilot and gunner that are in the picture & we’re the best darn crew in this E.T.O. believe it or not. My pilot is a swell kid and so’s my gunner. (oh – this darn pen is almost out of ink, excuse please while I fill it.)
I want you to send Lee one of the pictures I had made with my crew and tell her you want it back if you will. Don’t send it unless they are good. (are they really?)
I got a letter from Brownie today giving me the lowdown on everyone. She said Bob Chambers wife had four kids. Ha! Ha! He really got an old hussy & a big family didn’t he.
I want you to send me a couple bottles of Vaseline Hair Tonic the next time you send a package. They don’t have hair oil in the E.T.O. (E.T.O. means European Theater of Operations)
I’m going on pass in a few minutes so will close for now hoping to hear from you real soon. Hope everyone is feeling swell and hope you’re all happy. Tell the gang hello! for me.
Your loving Son,
Earl D.
P.S. your letters to me aren’t censored.
