V-MAIL DATED 5-19-44
Dearest Mom,
I just came in from my leave and found about a dozen letters from you, sister and Lee so now I can call it a perfect day. It really makes a guy feel swell to receive mail from home. I visited London CENSORED & had a swell time. I’m glad you received all the pictures and like them. I want Lee to have a good one of each. (laughing & smiling.) I’m sorry I looked sleepy in one. Ha! Ha! The Easter card was beautiful you sent me. Guess what – I received one from Mrs. R.W. Griffith today. (Now can you imagine that?) I guess anything can happen now days. I’m still feeling swell and still happy. (as usual) I haven’t recd. the box of candy as yet. I’m glad you got the pictures from Florence of my crew and me. Sis said they were very good. I’m going to answer Lee’s letters now so will close. Hope you’re doing swell. Tell Pop & Sis Hello.
your loving son forever,
Earl Jr.
