V-MAIL “SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND” DATED 5-10-44
Dear Mom,
Greetings this beautiful spring morning. How’s my favorite girl these days? I’m still doing swell as ever & hope you are the same.
I guess you are kept quite busy with little Judy now aren’t you? She will probably be quite a large little girl when I see her again I suppose. How old is she now? Aunt told me she was really having a swell time helping you watch the little chickens grow up.
Oh yes – will you send me back one of my V mail letters so I can tell whether or not I write them legible enough to read? (I doubt it.) Did you get the seven I wrote while I was in Ireland. (Hope they were passiable [sic]?)
Did C.K. win any thing betting on the derby this year. I’ll bet he didn’t. I sure hope I’m home for the derby time next year. If I do we’ll do the town together.
Well – be good & write real often mom.
your loving son,
Earl D.
