V-MAIL DATED 4-9-44
Dearest Mom,
Just a few lines tonight tonight [sic] to let you know that I’m safe and having a nice time. I’m somewhere in England now but can not say where. I like it here fine.
I received the watch and fountain pen you sent me and they both work fine. My watch keeps perfect time now. I bought a new watch and broke the crystal so I think I’ll send it home as soon as I can for you to keep. It is a pretty nice watch.
I hope you received the pictures I sent you. I want you to send Lee one of the good ones or one of each if you will. I’ll write and tell her about it. I am going to write her tomorrow if I get a chance.
I think I told you I received the money order and the check didn’t I? I really appreciated it. I won’t need any now for quite a spell so don’t send me any.
Don’t forget to send Lee a birthday present the fifteenth. Thanks a lot. I will have to finish for now as I am out of space. Here’s Wishing you and all the folks a very happy Easter.
Your Loving Son,
Earl D.
