V-MAIL “SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND” DATE STAMPED 4-13-44[*]
Dearest Sister,
Just a few lines tonight to my favorite pin up girl to let you know that I’m still allright and I’m having a good time. (as usual)
I guess you are almost through school teaching for this year aren’t you? Have you decided what you are going to do this summer. Sure hope you decide on something you will like.
How did you like the pictures I sent mother. They aren’t very good but they will have to do.
You’re going to have a birthday real soon aren’t you? You’ll have to accept my apologies for no present and my best wishes I guess until I get back to the States again.
Well I’ll close for now wishing you a very happy birthday.
your loving brother
Toots
P.S. How’s the sailor.
[*This letter, despite being stamped with a 4-13 date, is postmarked May 16th, and the fact that it references Mary E’s birthday – which I believe may be May 24th – and the fact that he includes “Somewhere in England” which he’s only done on one other letter – from May – leads me to believe this is in fact a V-mail from May.]
