Dearest mom –
I’m still laying around taking it easy but according to orders I’m going to leave for New York in the morning so guess I’ll get to England if I pass the physical exam they give us in P.O.E.
I mailed my watch home today so you should receive it pretty soon. I insured it for $50 so I’ll send you the receipt in this letter. The only thing wrong with it is that it runs to fast, So see if you can have it fixed in town and send it back to my new address before I leave for overseas. I really do miss it a lot.
I wrote Brownie a letter and explained everything to her and asked her for my ring back. I wonder if she will give it to me. I doubt it.
I recd. a swell letter from Lee while ago. She worries more about what I do & don’t do than you do. She sent me a birthday present but as yet I haven’t gotten it. I’m curious as to what it will be. Her birthday is the 15th of April. I wish you’d send her something rather nice for her birthday. Will you?
I tried to call you last night but guess there was no one at home so I called Aunt & told her to tell you not to send my sun tan or the fountain pen if you haven’t already sent them to me. I hope you haven’t because they may come back home from here.
It is really raining here in Ga. Today. I bet it will be pretty cold up north in N. York tomorrow or Sun. when we get there. I hope we stay there a few weeks. I’d like to see the big city but we will probably be confined to the base while we’re there.
Well it’s time to load the baggage on the trucks so I’ll close for now so be good & write when you get my new address.
Your loving son,
Earl D.
