FLORENCE ARMY AIR FIELD – FLORENCE, S.C. DATED 2-8-44
Dearest Folks –
I arrived here about 9 o’clock this morn and got cleaned up and reported in and now I’m happy again (as usual) so guess I’ve just about recuperated enough to write you a few lines before I go to sleep again. I always have to come back to the army to catch up on my sleep. Ha! Ha! Gee wilikers I really had a lovely time at home. I had lots more fun than I did on my furlough & why I can’t understand as yet. I was just about without any morale before I came home but now I’m in good spirits again and everythings going my way. It really feels good to have such nice, swell, splendid parents & brothers & sisters like I have & I’m real proud of you all.
Did you get aunt & uncle back to the old Ford allright. I sure hope your tires didn’t go flat on the way. Did they?
I met a swell girl on the way back who chattered more than any girl I ever talked to & she wouldn’t let me sleep at all till we got to Augusta, Georgia & then she talked so much I couldn’t sleep. I’m going to write her a letter today & say “Dear Chatter Box.” She was really nice though & from the State of Michigan.
I’m scratched off the commitment for the fifteenth so guess I’ll be here till the first of next month anyway.
I paid the guy the $30 I owed him and I don’t owe anyone now. I guess I’ll have to get my watch fixed though real soon.
I want Sis to hurry & send me her Camera as soon as possible with plenty of film. I need some pictures to give my public.
Did C.K. go back to work yet or is he going to rest a while longer. I sure hope he hurries & gets allright real soon. I hated to see him feel so bad. I’m sure he worries to much or something like that.
Well it’s supper time so I must go and see what gives. I’m really famished from hunger tonight. Be good & tell everyone hello for me.
Love
