FLORENCE ARMY AIR FIELD – FLORENCE, S.C. POSTMARKED 2-21-44
Dear mother –
Here it is another Sunday afternoon and we have all day off on Sunday now so I’ll have a little letter writing time this afternoon & you’re first on my list as usual.
I’m expecting to go to Savannah almost any day now so guess I’ll be going to the P.O.E. (port of embarkation) in the next month or so. Most of the guys have been going to Australia but I’m still hoping its some where in England.
I’m going to send you a small picture of me & I want you to have about four enlargements made from it as soon as it is possible because I want them before I’m sent over. I had one enlargement made from it and it turned out rather nice. I haven’t had it painted yet but I’m going to before I leave here.
I don’t guess you’ve recd. the check from my allotment as yet have you. If & when you do I want you to pay Aunt & dad back what I borrowed from them. I still owe Aunt $45 for the ring I bought. I should have quite a bit saved up when I come back from overseas. I want you all to take that $50 a month & buy you something nice with it. I’ll be making enough without that to save quite a lot each month.
How is Pop getting along with his work now days. Tell him to be good and write me sometime real soon. I guess Sis & C.K. are allright by now aren’t they?
Well I have quite a few letters to write this afternoon so I’ll close for now. Best of luck to everyone.
Your Loving Son
Earl D.
P.S. Get those pictures done soon as possible and get them painted. (Size – large)
