Each year the Oldham History Center strives to add new and exciting events that will showcase the latest campus renovations and our newest offerings! - Antique Iron Club – Meets 1st Thursday of each month, March – December. 7pm in the Rob Morris Educational Building.
- Archaeology Public Digs & Programs – April, May, September, October. Since 2007 the Oldham County History Center began archaeology research on this site which is now recognized by the National Park Service as a site on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. The site honors Henry Bibb and his family, enslaved by William Gatewood and described by Bibb in his own narratives: The Life and Adventures of Henry Bibb: an American Slave. FREE event but must call for reservations and directions.
- Archaeology Field Institute at the Bibb Escapes/Gatewood Plantation site Private Dig. Mon., July 10 – Fri., July 14, 2023. Participants work with licensed archaeologists and receive a Henry Bibb book. Open to Ages 13 and up. 9am – 3pm. Transportation provided to the site and other off-site locations. REGISTRATION REQUIRED by calling 502.222.0826.
- Barnyard Fun! Hands-on special family activities at the Dahlgren Pioneer Barn. Free and open to the public. Most Saturdays monthly, May – October. 10am – Noon.
- Corn Island Storytelling Festival – September 20 – 21, 2024. World Famous storytellers along with local “Tale Spinner” Take the stage to entertain. Workshops, food trucks, puppets, Juggernaut Jug Band, Burgoo and Bourbon Bash, School shows, and MORE!
- Day of the Dead Celebration – Opening event on Sept. 23, with cemetery tours throughout the season, concluding with a celebration on Nov. 2nd. Click the link for information about the opening event and cemetery walk schedule, or search from the calendar directly.
- History Center Gala – July 30th 2024 – Celebrating the 2024 Champion of Oldham County History. This important fundraiser helps provide our annual budget that supports our archives, programs and historic buildings. Includes dinner, open bar, themed setting, silent auction and a tribute to a selected supporter of Oldham County’s community history. - Light Up LaGrange at the History Center – 1st Saturday in December. Activities from 3pm – 9 p.m. Check local calendars for a complete list of activities all over town.
- Living Treasures Reception – To be scheduled. Rob Morris Educational Building. Reservations required. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments. Sponsored by Project Guild of La Grange and The Oldham ERA.
- Log Cabin Quilter’s Display – Quilts rotate on display quarterly by a member of the Log Cabin Quilters Guild. On exhibit in the History Center museum. Free with regular museum admission.
- Oldham County Day at the History Center – Third Saturday of July. Oldham County Day, sponsored by Project Guild of La Grange. This annual event celebrates community and history. The Oldham County History and Oldham Era’s Living Treasures recipients are honored in the Oldham County Day Parade.
