FLORENCE ARMY AIR FIELD – FLORENCE, S.C. DATED 2-17-44
Dear Folks –
Am having a swell time but I just haven’t had time to write any one lately but it’s raining & to foggy to fly today so guess I’ll have all day to write letters and do nothing.
I recd. the shoes Tuesday and they’re really swell. They fit me perfect & I like the type allright to. Thanks a million for them. I wore them in town last nite and I didn’t see a pair in any of the store windows half so pretty.
I’m leaving here this month (about the 20th) so guess I won’t be home for quite some time. I go to Savannah, Georgia for a few days & then to (probably) California where I will pick up a ship to go overseas in. Oh well I don’t mind to much. Be sure & don’t tell anyone what I said about to Ga. & then California because it’s a secret.
I am going in tonight & see if my pictures are completed. I will send you one real soon if they are. How about the Camera Sis was going to send me. It’s almost to late to send it now if she hasn’t already sent it. I’ll probably be gone before it gets here. So if she hasn’t already sent it tell her to wait till I send for it again
I bought a Mom & Dad table cloth today as souvenir of Florence & I (dopey me) think I sent it to Clarences instead of home. Oh well. I guess you’ll get it anyway the next time you go by there.
Do you ever hear from miss Brinkhoff any more. I haven’t heard for quite some time. Maybe it’s because I haven’t written her in the last month.
How is C.K. getting along now with his legs. I hope the Army dont get him because I don’t imagine he would like it very much. He might get a bad branch of service if he is drafted.
Well it’s time for me to close because I’ve told everything I know & more to so I’ll ring off hoping to hear from you soon.
Love
