Campaign Update 2020 Over $2 Million Raised!
The Oldham County History Center museum opened on January 7, 2017 with new updated exhibits and new accessibility access. The museum partnered with the Kentucky State Reformatory and Roederer Farm to continue campus renovation which has included: fresh painted exterior and interior of the Rob Morris Chapel Education Building and exterior painting and repair of the J. C. Barnett Library and Archives. In addition the wrought iron fence was restored and reset by Stewarts Ironworks in northern Kentucky.
Groundbreaking was held on June 2 for the Dahlgren Pioneer Barn and was completed in 2018 with a colonial stone fireplace and bread oven, exhibit space and educational demonstration areas. The stone for the fireplace was re-purposed from the stone that was taken from the Mallory Taylor Hospital.
Funds were solicited for interior campus lighting, landscaping and brick pavers that are used to connect all four historic structures and the Dahlgren Pioneer Barn. A Brick Paver Campaign is still in full swing – DONATE HERE! Pavers can be purchased as a way to memorialize, honor, or recognize individuals and groups.
The fundraiser campaign is underway for The Road Warrior – a sculpture of local native Dr. E. Bruce Heilman. Heilman, a WWII Marine Veteran, rode his Marine issue Harley Davidson across the United States to bring recognition to WWII veterans and their sacrifices for democracy. Bruce passed away in 2019 while the sculpture process was underway.
